Chelsea news: Michael Emenalo makes bold Andreas Christensen claim after Monaco move

ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN is a future great at Chelsea, according to Michael Emenalo.

The young Denmark centre back has slotted into the Blues backline in recent week with David Luiz on the sidelines.
He has impressed in the middle of the back three as Chelsea have kept the pressure on the Manchester clubs.
And former Chelsea chief Emenalo thinks he’ll have a bright future at the club.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Emenalo said: “The thing I can tell you is Andreas Christensen, with his technical qualities, his personality, his desire, his love for the club… he is a potential great.

I don’t know how else to put it, but he is a wonderful, wonderful player. We are all thrilled.
“He has shown a lot of intelligence in accepting the pathway provided to him without hesitation – to go to Borussia Monchengladbach – to ensure he is ready to come back and play.
“You don’t hang around in Cobham and keep asking to be given a chance.”

Emenalo left Chelsea last month and is now at Monaco as sporting director.
However he denied claims he left on bad terms and insisted he needed a new challenge.
“The first thing to make clear is that Chelsea Football Club is built on the premise that it can survive without any particular individual or group of individuals,” he said.

“It’s a club that is very solid and stable, so me leaving or anybody leaving will not affect anything that happens at the club, at least so I hope, and I think was a part of the aspect of the policy.
“Nothing happened. I had a wonderful ten years at Chelsea, with positive pressure and lot of things that happened.
“I just felt that things were in place and things looked very solid and very stable and I needed a new challenge.
“When you’ve been at a place for so long, I haven’t really had a chance to step out and breathe and see what’s out there.
“I have been very focused on everything Chelsea and it just came to a time, right bang on ten years, where I felt it was time for me to go and do something else.”
