Who Cristiano Ronaldo is blaming for his slow start to the season

It’s incredible to think that, come mid-November, Cristiano Ronaldo still only has one La Liga goal to his name.
The Portuguese superstar has played seven times in the league, scoring just once. Cristiano’s lack of goals has contributed to Zinedine Zidane’s side falling eight points behind Barcelona in the table and are already facing an uphill battle to retain the title.
Of course, the former Manchester United player hasn’t played every match in the league.
That’s because he was banned for five matches - four of those being league matches - for his sending-off in the Super Cup against Barcelona.
The four-time Ballon d’Or winner shoved referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea after he was shown a red card during Madrid’s 3-1 victory over their El Clasico rivals.

RONALDO BLAMES THE REFEREE

It saw him miss the start of the campaign just as it was starting.
And it’s for that reason, Ronaldo is blaming Mr. De Burgos for his lack of goals this season.
"I was really, really motivated to start the season,” Ronaldo told L’Equipe, per Sport.
"But when some people deprive you of going on the pitch, of expression...The way in which it happened disappointed me. What happened was a huge mistake by the referee."

So, Ronaldo is blaming the referee for sending him off for pushing him and that’s why he hasn’t scored many goals this season.
It’s understandable that missing five matches as soon as a season starts must really disrupt your momentum going into a new campaign. But Ronaldo really has no-one to blame but himself for pushing a referee.

RONALDO ISN'T WORRIED

However, despite all the pundits and football fans making a big deal of Ronaldo’s form, it seems he’s not worried in the slightest.
“Things are going to change, I am not worried," he insisted.
“I don't agree with what people are saying about me. People don't know the difference between playing well, playing OK and not scoring goals.
"I'm looked at as a goal machine, like a guy who has to score all the time. If that isn't the case, nobody cares if I've played well or not, I'm only judged on scoring.
"I accept the criticism, but I don't agree with it. That's why I avoid reading or hearing what is said about me. But I have no choice but to accept it; I can't control the world."
