Who is the best Premier League signing of the season?

We are 11 games into the Premier League season and are now set for an epic spell of action until the new year.

Over the international break we asked our followers on Facebook and Twitter for their thoughts on who was the best Premier League signing of the season.

The criteria we have used to pick the ten players below is based on influence on their respective teams and the price they cost.

Only players that were transferred during the summer transfer window are included.

It will be fascinating to see how these ten players continue to perform in the rest of the season.

Two players who can count themselves unlucky not to be included are Newcastle’s Mikel Merino and Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette.

The top 10 list is as follows:

0. Kyle Walker. Tottenham to Manchester City. Price: £50 million with add-ons.

Walker did not come cheap, indeed for a few days the England right back was the most expensive defender in world football.

Yet, it has been money well spent for Manchester City, at least in the short term.

Walker has bagged four assists and is both part of a defence that is the second best in the division, in terms of goals conceded, and a crucial member of the best attack.

Had Walker not been sent off against Everton, Manchester City could well have won their opening 11 games.

9. Romelu Lukaku. Everton to Manchester United. Price: £75 million with add-ons.

Seven Premier League goals and a drought of scoring for Manchester United since late September sums up how Lukaku has started at Old Trafford.

Lukaku has though continued to score goals for Belgium during his barren run for Manchester United.

And, there are signs that Lukaku has improved his all round game at Old Trafford. As testified by three Premier League assists so far this campaign.

8. Davinson Sanchez. Ajax to Tottenham. Price: £42 million.

Spurs have boasted a fine defence in recent seasons, which lead many to ask why they were splashing out on an expensive defender last summer.

By virtue of missing Tottenham’s matches against Chelsea and Manchester United, Sanchez has not appeared on the losing side in the Premier League yet.

It helps having the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen alongside him, but Sanchez looks to be a fine defender.

Spurs fans have already made comparisons with Ledley King. Praise in north London does not come much higher than that.

7. Alvaro Morata. Real Madrid to Chelsea. Price: £60 million.

For so long it seemed likely that Morata would join Manchester United and Romelu Lukaku was on his way back to Chelsea.

Fans of Chelsea still think they got the better deal and as it stands, the Spaniard still has the edge.

Morata has adapted really well to English football and no one is suggesting the Blues were wrong to sell Diego Costa.

The link up between Morata and Azpilicueta is also one that should serve Chelsea for some time.

6. Nemanja Matic. Chelsea to Manchester United. Price: £35 million + 5 million in add ons.

From day one, Nemanja Matic looked as if he had played for Manchester United his whole life.

The Serb midfielder has been protecting a back four (or five) that is still yet to concede a Premier League goal at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have missed Matic. And, Manchester United solved a problem in their starting XI.

It remains a mystery transfer from Chelsea who appeared to strengthen their rivals. Perhaps the improvement of Tiemoue Bakayoko as the season goes on, will make this all clearer?

5. Pascal Gross. Ingolstadt to Brighton. Price Undisclosed, reportedly just £3 million.

Pascal Gross created a lot of chances for a minnow side in the Bundesliga last season.

The German is doing something very similar for Brighton in the Premier League.

Two goals and five assists in 11 matches is a brilliant return for Pascal Gross.

The Brighton scouting team has been doing a great job in recent seasons, as evidenced by promotion.

Bringing in Matt Ryan and Pascal Gross could well see them stay in the Premier League.

4. Richarlison. Fluminense to Watford. Price: £11.2 million.

Richarlison has been so good for Watford that many are asking why more Premier League clubs don’t buy from Brazil.

The 20-year-old from Rio has been outstanding for Watford and can be a match winner on his day.

If Richarlison continues on the current run of form, a move for four or five times the amount paid by Watford could be likely next summer.

Inclusion in the Brazil World Cup squad is also not impossible if Richarlison is able to keep this up through the winter.

3. Ederson Moraes. Benfica to Manchester City. Price: £35 million.

Manchester City tried to fix their goalkeeping problem last summer with Claudio Bravo.

That didn’t work out, but Ederson has been a massive success so far.

Ederson didn’t come cheap and is the second most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

Yet, the initial showings suggest Manchester City have plugged a big gap, for many years to come.

Shot stopping and doing well with his feet were expected, the mammoth usually accurate goal kicks are a big bonus for a side that loves to counter attack.

2. Sean Kolasinac. Schalke to Arsenal. Price: Free.

Arsene Wenger has taken some stick for his signings in recent seasons but Kolasinac is a real find.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina “tank” has looked right at home in the Premier League and looks perfectly suited to his position as a left wing back.

Kolasinac’s signing makes you wonder why Arsenal did not move for another centre back to play in the back three last summer.

Nevertheless, Arsenal should be congratulated for one of the signings of the summer.

1. Mohamed Salah. Roma to Liverpool. Price: £36.9 million. Rises to £43.9m with add ons.

Salah has come into an already fearsome Liverpool attack and made it even better. Arguably becoming its key man.
One of the finest sights in Premier League football is seeing Salah and Sadio Mane break away at incredible speed.

Salah’s goals against Arsenal and West Ham stick in the memory for their sheer pace which left the opposition completely powerless.

The Egyptian has enjoyed an incredible start to life in the Premier League and also lead his country to the World Cup.

Seven goals and three assists in the opening 11 league matches suggests Salah is a shoo-in for Premier League team of the season honours.
