The promising talent Barcelona are determined to sign in January

Barcelona are ready to make move for Ajax’s young talent Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports.

The 18-year-old defender has been one of the best performers for the Dutch side this season.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have identified him as a long-term target for the heart of defence.

The report adds that Barca are making moves to agree a deal when the January transfer window opens in less than two months.

Thomas Vermaelen is expected to be sold after the arrival of De Ligt.

Barca are going through an incredible form this campaign, currently leading La Liga table with 31 points, eight more than they bitter rivals Real Madrid, who sit third behind Valencia.
