Barcelona are set to offer Lionel Messi a lifetime contract, After scoring his 500th goal for Barcelona

Lionel Messi has agreed a four-year deal with Barcelona in July, but still hasn’t put pen on paper.

However, Barca CEO Oscar Grau said on Saturday that the Catalans are ready to offer the five time Ballon d’Or winner a lifetime deal.

“Messi signed a four-year deal in June, but the club will offer him a lifetime contract,” Grau told club members.

“The idea is for Leo, who has been here since he was little, to stay here for life, as he is an icon. After he finishes playing we want him to remain linked to the club.”

Andres Iniesta signed a similar deal earlier this month.
