Ernesto Valverde Reveals It Will Happen: Barcelona Eyeing Manchester United Midfield Target

LaLiga champions FC Barcelona are reportedly monitoring a midfielder who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in this transfer window.

According to Football Espana, Lazio star and Serbia international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has caught the eye of the Spanish giants in recent weeks.

The Serbian was tipped for a move to the Premier League over the past couple of months, but it now seems that Real Madrid, Juventus and now the Blaugrana could stifle any switch to England.

Italian media have reported that the Serie A star is valued at €110 million (R1.77 billion) by his club, but this fee could rise if he has a good FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Barca manager Ernesto Valverde is apparently looking to freshen up his squad for the upcoming season, and is on the lookout for somebody who can fill the void left by Andres Iniesta, who recently left the Camp Nou for Vissel Kobe in Japan.

The UEFA Champions League is believed to be high up on the Blaugrana’s list of priorities for next season, and they will need to bring in a number of reinforcements to triumph in the competition.

The 23-year-old, who joined Lazio from Genk in 2015, has made 122 appearances for the Italian club so far, scoring 24 goals and assisting a further 20 strikes.
