Benzema claim
09.10: Mateo Kovacic claims Karim Benzema is the best striker in the world .
But he still believes the club would be helped by the signing of his former team-mate Mauro Icardi.
Real Madrid have been linked with Icardi this season after struggling in front of goal.
Madrid’s superstar front trio of Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have scored just six La Liga goals between them.
Icardi has hit a stunning 16 in 15 in Serie A as Inter lead Napoli and Juventus.
And Kovacic, who joined Real from Inter, thinks the striker would be a good addition but stresses Benzema is the top hitman in football.
"I have played with [Icardi], he is a very good player who scores many goals," Kovacic said ahead of Real’s match with Borussia Dortmund.
"But we have the best forward in the world, which is Karim.
"Icardi is good and could help us for sure, but I don't talk about signings."
Aubameyang latest
08.35: Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz says he hopes Pierre Emerick Aubameyang stays at the club rather than going to Real Madrid.
The striker has been linked with an exit after an explosive start to the season.
He was sent off in the derby against Schalke with Dortmund struggling in the Bundesliga.
"He's a terrible player, very bad," he started.
"I'm just kidding, I hope he doesn't go to Real Madrid!
"He has the quality for Real Madrid, but I hope he doesn't know about it and continues with us.”
Ronaldo tipped to beat Messi to Ballon d’Or
03.00: Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to beat Lionel Messi Ballon d’Or this year, despite having a poor start to the 2017-18 season.
The Portuguese star won the Champions League and La Liga title in May but has struggled to replicate his form this term.
But team-mate Mateo Kovacic reckons the attacker will soon turn his form around.
"Me and the rest of my team-mates, we see Cristiano as always in good shape," Kovacic said.
"He's the best player in the world and he has already scored many goals this season and he will score way more goals for sure.
"I think he should win the Ballon d'Or because his year was amazing.
“He scored many goals, won everything with the team and he was a key piece of that.
"I'm really happy for him. We all are. But the most important thing for us is to win as a team.”

The Hazard plan…
18:30: Real Madrid reportedly wanted James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata to join Chelsea in a plot that would have seen Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois move to the Bernabeu.
Rodriguez and Morata both left Real Madrid in the summer, joining Bayern Munich and Chelsea respectively.
But the Daily Mail say that, though Rodriguez ended up at Bayern, Real Madrid originally planned to sell him to Chelsea.
Los Blancos have an interest in two of Antonio Conte’s biggest performers.
It is an open secret that Zidane is a huge admirer of Hazard, who continues to take the Premier League by storm.
The Belgian was supposedly requested by the French manager a year ago but club president Florentino Perez stopped a move from taking place.
The La Liga giants are also keen on Courtois to replace Keylor Navas.
Yet the Daily Mail say that the four-way swap deal never showed any signs of happening.
The Sanchez plan…
18:25: Lots of cunning plans today it seems.
Real Madrid are looking to sell Lucas Vazquez to Roma to facilitate a deal for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in Spain.
Alexis Sanchez looks destined to leave Arsenal in the summer, having not agreed a new contract with the north London club.
The Chile international will be able to agree terms with foreign sides in January when he will have just six months remaining on his current deal.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Real Madrid are desperate to reach an agreement for Sanchez.
And the La Liga champions are reportedly attempting to move on Lucas Vazquez to Roma to free up funds and space in their squad for the 28-year-old.
The January plan…
18:20: Real Madrid chiefs have decided to bring in fresh blood when the transfer window reopens in January.
General director Jose Angel Sanchez met club president Florentino Perez on Monday afternoon to discuss the possibility of making new signings.
And after a two-and-a-half hour meeting, Spanish newspaper Marca say it was decided that they will spend to strengthen their squad.
Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner are the three names on Real’s January shopping list.
