Lionel Messi set for a war as Conte has demanded from Abramovich to sign Barcelona star
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has demanded from the club owner Roman Abramovich to make move for Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto in January.
The former Juventus manager thinks the midfielder can help him close the gap between his side an the two Manchester clubs who lead the Premier League table.
Roberto is also being considered as the replacement of Cesc Fabregas.
Don Balon are reporting that Lionel Messi wants Roberto to stay and is worried he might leave.
The Spaniard has a £35m (€40m) release clause, which the west London club could easily trigger.
Indeed the reports claim Roberto already has an offer from the Blues as they look to complete a transfer and improve their squad.
The 25-year-old has scored only one goal, but has provided three assists in 10 La Liga matches this campaign.
Barcelona currently lead La Liga table with 36 points, five more than their nearest rivals Valencia.
