Lionel Messi on course to break ANOTHER record… but you won’t guess what it is
LIONEL MESSI is on course to break yet another record after Barcelona trounced Deportivo La Coruna 4-0 on Sunday evening.
Despite the victory, it was a frustrating night for Messi who struck the woodwork four times, meaning he’s now hit it on 15 separate occasions so far this season.
The Argentine’s current record for hitting the bar or post throughout an entire season is 18, meaning he’s well on course to smash that tally.
And it appears the woodwork pandemic has caught on at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona have now hit the frame of the goal a staggering 26 times this season with Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez second to Messi having both been denied on three occasions.
Paulinho, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Deulofeu have also been denied by the woodwork once respectively.

Despite missing a penalty, Messi still remains La Liga’s leading goal-scorer with 14 so far this season. Since making his debut for the Catalan club back in 2004, he has been denied by the goal-posts 74 times.
After the match, manager Ernesto Valverde defended his side’s bad habit.
“If we deliberately tried to hit the post, we wouldn't get to that figure," said the 53-year-old.
"Fortunately, apart from hitting the post we're also scoring goals. That means we are regularly close to the goal and in position to score and that's good."
Braces from both Suarez and Paulinho were enough to see off the visitors to go 11 points clear of Real Madrid ahead of Saturday’s El Clasico.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have a game in hand on their rivals, after participating in the Club World Cup which they won after a 1-0 victory over Gremio.
Atletico Madrid are currently second in the table, six points adrift of leaders Barcelona and both sides remain undefeated.
Valverde has warned that his side must be wary of Atletico and said: "People mention the advantage we have over Real Madrid but they forget that Atletico are only six points behind us,"
"We have it pretty clear in our minds that this is a long competition. No team sews up the league in the first round of games."
