Karim Benzema has reacted with a strange tweet to Ballon d’Or rankings were revealed

This year Ballon d’Or rankings surprised some people, and not just fans.

Kylian Mbappe was ranked seventh, despite enjoying an amazing season with AS Monaco in the Champions League and Ligue 1.

Furthermore, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – surprisingly – was ranked 19’th, behind Antoine Griezmann, despite being a key man to the Blues’ title winning season last term.

Griezmann hasn’t even won a trophy with Atletico Madrid in three years.

But one player who expressed his frustration on social media was Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman played a key role in Los Blancos’ double last campaign, but was ranked only 25’th, behind the likes of Edinson Cavani, Luis Suarez and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

He came sixth behind his teammates, Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Toni Kroos.

He has scored just two goals in La Liga this season and maybe that may have played a role in his ranking.

And on Thursday evening before the ceremony of the Ballon d’Or at the Eiffel Tower took place, the French striker bemoaned his ranking.

He wrote: “After the first three places for the #ballondOr it’s a drawing lost for the rest of the classification? [sic]”

So he’s saying that the first three players ranked for the Ballon d’Or make sense, but everything becomes confusing after.
