Leo Messi has revealed some interesting details about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo

Lionel Messi is not very optimistic whether he and Cristiano Ronaldo will ever be friends.

The duo have been dominating the world of football for the last decade, and easily could be considered as two of the greatest players to have ever stepped on a football pitch.

But their rivaliry means they have not formed any kind of personal relationship.

And Messi sounds pesimistic that there will be improvement in the future.

“I do not know if we will be [friends]m” he told Marca . “Friendship is something that is built through spending time together and getting to know each other.

“We have no relationship, but mostly because we only see each other in the awards ceremonies and it is the only time we speak. At that moment everything is fine, but then we do not cross paths again.”

Messi gave an interview after receiving the European Golden Shoe award on Friday.

The five time Ballon d’Or winner collected his fourth Golden Shoe after scoring 37 goals last season.
