Didier Drogba has revealed the real reason why Chelsea are struggling this campaign

Antonio Conte had a dream debut in the Premier League with Chelsea last season.

The Italian coach managed to win the title in his first spell away from Italy, much for the surprise of everyone, especially after the Blues were coming after a terrible league campaign.

But Conte found solution for every problem thanks to his tactical masterclass.

He switched the system to a three-men defence which saw his team go on a magnificient run, winning 27 of their remaining 32 league matches.

However, Chelsea have been struggling to repeat the success of last term this campaign.

Currently they sit fourth in the Premier League, having collected only 22 points from their first 11 matches.

Now, we can’t say it’s totally a disaster, but it will be very difficult for them to catch the leaders, Manchester City who are nine points ahead.

And Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has explained the real reason why his former side are struggling this season.

Speaking to French radio station RMC, as per the Metro, Drogba said: “What’s happening now is normal, two years ago, they were on the brink of relegation.

“Last year, with one match a week, everything went well. The coach came in with drastic methods and the club became champions again.

“But most of the players have never been further than a Champions League quarter-final or semi-final for a while.

“You have to get used to matches every three days again, get used to the demand for results, which is permanent, to the intensity.
